The Elegoo Neptune 2 is a printer that has a lot to offer most users. With the ability to potentially add a second extruder, a BL-Touch module, and even a laser engraver module, the Neptune 2 is certainly an appealing machine for the enthusiast looking for a new printer for tinkering. One of the interesting features offered by Elegoo Cura is ‘Spiralize Outer Contour’, which prints the model as a hollow shell and incrementally increases the Z height as the print progresses. This special mode of printing allows the printer to make tall objects quickly due to the lack of layer changes and the spiral nature of the toolpath.

Description

The Elegoo Neptune 2 is a semi-assembled DIY printer; which requires minimal mechanical assembly to get up and running. The printer includes all of the tools required for assembly, including a full set of Allen keys, a pair of small screwdrivers, an adjustment wrench, and some zip-ties for cable management

Outstanding industrial design: CNC machined aluminum extrusion and semi-assembled parts for reliable build quality and easy setup. V-guide roller made of Germany POM material with ultra-silence, accurate motion, and excellent wear resistance all over long term printing. 220X220X250mm printing size at ±0.1mm high precision. Supports multi-function extensions as well.

Smarter 3D printing: Once a print is complete and the nozzle temperature drops below 50° Celsius, the cooling fans of the nozzle and the motherboard will automatically stop working, saving power and extending their lifespan. Resume printing from where it left after an unexpected power outage or faulty operations. MK8 extruder has wide material compatibility and equipped filament detection sensor will pause printing when filament runs out.

Protected and stable power supply: 400Watt switched-mode power supply can better offer protection to your printing from short circuit, overload voltage, or under-voltage situations. The 250Watt hotbed will also be heated to 100° Celsius within 3 minutes under an average indoor temperature and helps to keep it stable to meet different filament materials’ working requirements.

Intuitive and user-friendly experience: Multi-language user interface shows the model preview and real-time printing progress. Large rotary nuts make leveling easier. The hotbed holds a replaceable fiberglass sheet with a matte Polycarbonate surface, which has a stronger adhesion and lets you do away with models without any hassle. 32bit motherboard with TMC2225 silent driver provides a quieter printing at 50db noise level and ensures consistent printing for 200 hours without any issues.

Warranty and Service: We provide a 1-year warranty on the printer (nozzle and build plate sheet excluded) and lifetime technical give a boost to with fast response in customer service. If you want a replacement part, we will be able to deliver it to you from the local warehouses giving you a better after-sales experience.

The printer is pre-assembled hence requires minimal time to set up and operate. This is a fantastic entry-level printer offering high-quality prints. The included user manual has different illustrations of every step, so there is no need to worry. The filament sensor feature is also handy because it can pause the printer, allowing you to fill the material and resume printing. The power loss protection can also help save your print in case of a power failure and resume when power is back.

It’s affordable and the general design is simple. You get really good print bed adhesion. The heated bed and hot end heat up very quickly. The print quality is rather nice but there is a small amount of surface roughness.

In addition to a 32-bit controller board with a color touchscreen, the printer uses a removable fiberglass build platform. It includes a custom version of the popular slicing app Cura, called Elegoo Cura. The printer comes with many of the sub-modules pre-assembled (Z end-stop, Z motor, extruder, etc.), so the assembly feels fun and easy with no tedious or complex steps. The included user manual offers multiple illustrations and diagrams at each step, so I had no problem following along. The printer primarily comprises aluminum extrusions with a rear-mounted power supply, a controller board mounted underneath the moving build platform, and a Bowden-style extruder that remotely feeds filament into the hot end. The Printer uses a filament run-out sensor which is cleverly mounted directly in-line with the extruder module. I like this design choice, as the sensor uses a mechanical switch to determine if the filament is present during printing. If the filament supply is interrupted, the switch triggers, and the printer automatically pauses the print.
