Anycubic Photon Mono 4K vs. Mono X 6K: High-Resolution 3D Printer Comparison

Anycubic is a prestigious brand that makes some of the best 3D printers available today. This China-based company launched its first products in 2015. Today, Anycubic is famous for its high-quality, affordable resin 3D printers much like the Anycubic Photon Mono 4K.

Some of our favorite Anycubic products are in its Photon Mono series. The devices in the Photon Mono series feature monochrome LCD screens with varying resolutions. There are four 3D printers in the Anycubic Photon Mono series. However, we’ll focus on the two with the highest resolutions; the Photon Mono 4K and the Photon Mono X 6X.

Anycubic Photon Mono 4K

Anycubic released the Mono 4K 3D printer on November 2021 as an upgrade to the Photon Mono, one of its first resin printers. The Mono 4K is one of the smallest resins printers around. While small, this 3D printer offers high-quality print resolutions with fine detailing.

The Anycubic Photon Mono 4K printer is made of plastic and aluminum alloy. The device has a compact feel and weighs about 4.3 kg.

Build Volume

The Mono 4K is ideal for printing smaller models or parts for bigger models. This device has a print volume of 132 x 80 x (165mm on the Z-axis). And the XY-axis offers a resolution of 35 microns. These upgraded pixels mean the Mono 4X prints with clarity and detailed precision.

Print Speed

The print speed of the Mono 4K 3D printer is around 50mm per hour; it is designed to save time. The printer also has a fast layer curing time of about one to two seconds. According to Anycubic, this device can print a 120mm x 4.7 model in 2.5 hours.

Lighting

The Photon Mono 4X does not only have a high light-transmitting LCD monochrome panel but also a new light source. Anycubic made the Mono 4K device with a matrix light source of 15 quartz lamp beads. This new light source produces uniform transmittance of UV light to each layer. Anycubic says each layer gets 27,320 lux power density making the printing process faster. The UV light power is adjustable; it can be dialed between 30-100 percent. Adjusting the light to suit different resins and designs will prolong the life span of the screen and the lighting system.

Touch Screen

The Photon Mono 4K 3D printer has a 6.23-inch LCD touchscreen. This screen makes it easy to control your designs and settings. This touchscreen is eight percent larger than the Photon Mono screen.

Anycubic also included a replaceable anti-scratch film in the Mono 4K package. This replaceable film protects against scratches, dust, resin spills, and other leaks.

4K Screen

The Anycubic Photon Mono 4K 3D printer has a 4k 3,840 x 2, 400 px resolution screen. The screen offers over 9.2 million pixels, giving your models and prints a vivid look.

Contrast

Anycubic made the Mono 4k 3D printer screen with a 400:1 contrast ratio, a 100 percent upgrade on the original Mono, and way higher than many others on the market. With this contrast ratio, you can be sure your models will look sharp with clarity in the corners and edges.

Connection/Software

You can only connect the Photon Mono 4K device via USB, which is not the most convenient option. This 3D printer is compatible with the Linux operating system.
