Creality Ender 3 vs. V2

Creality Ender 3 vs Ender 3 V2

Creality may be attempting to phase out the Ender 3 in favor of the new model Ender 3 V2. However, Ender 3 is still available, so which one should you choose? Is it better to go with the tried-and-true Ender 3 with its low price tag or the newer, shinier version with more features? This article will be comparing the Creality Ender 3 vs. V2 today to help you decide which is best for you.

Creality Ender 3

Because things will look very similar here, it will not be too detailed but concise. The Creality Ender 3’s print volume measures 8.6″ x 8.6″ x 9.8″ over a heated aluminum print bed. This setup permits you to print in PLA, ABS, or TPU, though if you plan to use a lot of flexible filament, you may want to upgrade to a direct drive extruder.

The maximum print resolution is set to 100 microns, and print quality is about what you would expect from a machine priced under $200 right out of the box. Models look good, but they will look even better once you dial in the right slicing settings and fiddle with the printer.

Use either a microSD card or a USB cable to connect with this model and control the printer from a turn-knob interface.

Product Features and details

  • Resume Printing Function: Ender 3 can resume printing even after a power outage or lapse occurs.
  • Easy and Quick Assembly: It comes with several assembled parts; you only need around 2 hours to assemble 20 nuts well.
  • Advanced Extruder Technology: Upgraded extruder significantly reduces plugging risk and bad extrusion; V-shape with POM wheels make it move noiseless, smoothly, and durable.
  • Safety Protected Power Supply: It only needs 5 minutes for the hotbed to reach 110°.
  • Strict Test: Strict testing for key components before delivery and lifetime technical supports available.

Creality Ender 3 V2

The Creality Ender 3 V2 also has a large build volume of 8.6′′ x 8.6′′ x 9.8′′, a basic print resolution of 100 microns, and is still compatible with ABS, PLA, and TPU filament. The V2 comes with a direct drive extruder, just like the Ender 3, so upgrade for better TPU results.

The new textured glass print bed is one of the most noticeable differences. It performs slightly better than the Ender 3’s aluminum plate in terms of adhesion and model removal.

The user interface on the Ender 3 V2 has been slightly improved, but you are still limited to microSD or tethered USB connectivity. Both models, of course, are made entirely of metal and come partially assembled.

Product Features and Details

Silent Motherboard: NOTE: The mainboard is a 4.2.2 version, but it is a silent mainboard that is different from the Ender 3 mainboard. This Ender 3 V2 is equipped with a self-developed silent motherboard with stronger anti-interference, faster and more stable motion performance, silent printing, and low decibel operation.

Safety UL Certified MeanWell Power Supply: Creality Ender 3 V2 equipped with MeanWell power supply, produced by the listed company with developed technology, meeting all the needs of fast heating and longtime printing. Moreover, the power supply is concealed in the machine, making it much safer.

Brand New 4.3 Inch UI User Interface: Simple and Clear UI, brand new operation UI system and 4.3 “color screen improve user experience, redesigned for a better out-of-box experience.

Effortless Filament Feeding: Ender 3 V2 3d printer adds a rotary knob on the extruder, making the loading and feeding filament process much easier.

Carborundum Glass Platform: Enable the hotbed to heat up quicker, and prints adhere better without warping. Ultra smoothness even on the first layer.

Creality Ender 3 vs. V2 Similarities

Creality did not exactly invent the wheel when designing the Ender 3 V2, as you have already read. The V2 meets all of the original’s basic objectives and produces similar results. The print quality is decent but not great right out of the box, the standard build volume of 8” x 8” x 9.6” is identical, and both use the same filaments. For more exotic filaments, you will still need to upgrade to an all-metal hot-end, and whether you buy the Ender 3 or the V2, the extruder setup is still a cheap stock model. Creality 3D Printer Comparison between Ender 3 and Ender 3 V2 is therefore similar in these regards.

Ender 3 vs. Ender 3 V2 Differences

Let us start with the most important differences: the Ender 3 V2 costs $50-$80 more than the Ender 3. So, what accounts for the price difference if the specifications are all the same? First and foremost, Creality equipped the Ender 3 V2 with a textured glass print bed, which is a significant improvement over the Ender 3’s aluminum print bed. Adhesion and removal are both smooth experiences, and the glass bed will last longer, too. Also, Creality upgraded the power supply to a Meanwell model and repositioned it beneath the machine. This is a cleaner and, to be honest, safer design.

Customers will appreciate a few other enhancements to the quality of the machine. The XY-belt tensioner simplifies belt maintenance and extends the life of your belt. Because of the upgraded motherboard and near-silent stepper motors, the Ender 3 V2 is also much quieter than its predecessor.

The Ender 3 V2 has a new user interface as well, but it’s not something that spectacular. Because there is still no touch screen, you must use a turn knob to navigate the settings. This new Ender 3 V2 is not perfect, but it is much nicer than Ender 3.
