Consistent Diameter

A high-speed laser micrometer is used to monitor the diameter variance of all our newly extruded filament in real time All the way through production. With a measurement accuracy of 0.002mm, we will be able to achieve a diameter tolerance of 0.03mm on our 1.75mm and 2.85mm filament. The dimensional consistency of our filament prevents clogs by inconsistent filament diameter and improves print quality by extruding the right amount of filament even as printing.

Anti-clog

All the way through our filament manufacturing process, the melted raw materials are filtered by two 100×100 stainless steel meshes. The aperture of the mesh is about 0.15mm, which prevent larger particles from going into the final filament products. Considering the 0.4mm or 0.35mm extruding nozzle is commonly used by 3D FFF printers, FilaCube filaments can reduce the chance of clogging your 3D printer nozzle significantly.

PLA 2 Prints are tough!

This picture shows a durability testing with a print. It was expected that the print would be completely crushed. After being run over repeatedly by a car of 3800 lbs, it’s just got probably the most sharp corners mushed and that’s the reason it. The model was printed in FilaCube PLA 2 filament, 10% infill, 2 walls, 0.2mm layer, 0.6 mm nozzle.

Beds that are heated unevenly underneath will worsen the issue. Blue tape, hairspray, a glue stick or a mixture of PVA glue and water can compensate for the leveling flaws. Please note that hairspray is flammable.

  • Bed Temperature FilaCube PLA 2 doesn’t need a heated bed. If a heated bed is used, bed temp should be lower than 50°C. High temp might cause binding and warping issues. Some advanced users find that 60°C for the first layer, then reducing to 50°C results in good adhesion without warping/pulling up.
  • Nozzle Temperature Recommended temp is 210°C or 215°C. If you have a nozzle jamming issue, please raise nozzle temp. Every printer and every filament brand is different! To get best print results, please calibrate your extruder/nozzle temperatures. You’ll download a temperature calibration tower off thingiverse, set the temperature range from 190°C to 230°C in steps of 5°C, and print the calibration tower and choose the best temperature for your printer.
  • Retraction Settings Retraction needs to be enabled for FilaCube PLA 2! Start with a retraction distance of 5mm and a speed of 25mm/s and tune it for your printer. In Cura, the retraction speed should be 25mm/s or lower. Wipe might also need to be enabled. If you are experiencing stringing, blobs, zits, etc., tune retraction, coasting, and wipe settings.
  • First Layer Binding/Sticking A successful first layer is critical to a successful 3D print. Your first layer should stick to the bed every time. To achieve a successful first layer, cooling fan should be 30% or lower, print speed 35-50% of normal speed, and layer height 90% of normal layer height (to ensure that the melted filament has enough time to bind to the bed). Please observe the print of the first layer. If binding is observed to be poor in some areas, check that the areas are clean and that the bed is leveled. One or two coats of hairspray or a mixture of PVA glue and water is highly recommended if you are having a first layer binding issue.
  • Cooling Fan From the second layer, 100% of cooling fan should be used.
  • Revitalize & Store The performance of PLA 2 filament should not be affected for several months after the vacuum package is open. For better printing quality, we recommend storing your filament in a vacuum sealed bag with desiccant. If you are having bubbling, stringing etc. issues, the reason might be that the filament is damp. You’ll revitalize/dehydrate it in an oven at 60°C – 80°C (140°F – 176°F) for about one or two hours.
  • How to Prevent Filament Crossing/Tangling? All FilaCube filaments are wounded by machines. Machines will not create crossing/tangling issues. When a new spool is opened, the free end of the filament is secured on the spool. Filament crossing/tangling occurs when the free end is not properly secured or uncoiled filament spills over the edge of the flange. 3D printer users should all the time secure the loose end of the filament to prevent filament crossing/tangling.
  • Supported 3D Printer Brands PLA2 filaments can work with FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling)/FFF(Fused filament fabrication) printers. Make a Professional Print with PLA 2 Flament!

Prints made from FilaCube PLA 2 filaments can tolerate sanding heat better than normal PLA. 3D printing professionals love PLA 2 filaments because great printed details from PLA 2 can save significant sanding and primer time!

The pictures demonstrate how a hero shield was printed with FilaCube PLA 2 filament and post-processed to a final cosplay. After the shied was 3D printed, it was sanded with 80 grit, 120 grit, and 180 grit sand paper, respectively. After the sanded shield was filler primed, it was wet sanded smooth up to 1200 grit starting with 220 grit sand paper. Next the shield was painted in a gloss black lacquer, masked and painted silver, and then sealed. Then nail polish was used to paint the back of the gem and the gem was attached to the shield.
