Sovol SV04 IDEX 3D Printer has been well received as a good-quality and affordable IDEX system. The Sovol SV04 IDEX 3D printer is known for its independent dual extruders that make 3D printing much easier and more fun than it has ever been before. Featuring four different printing modes, it enables you to print miniatures using two different colors, and two different filaments/materials, in the same direction or opposite directions.

Its dual direct-drive metal extruders make it surprisingly capable of creating highly precise and accurate miniatures using a vast range of materials such as PLA, ABS, PETG, TPU, PC, PA, wood, ASA, and PVA.

Besides, two direct metal extruders and the ability to use a wide range of materials that go with it, there’s also an auto bed leveling system to uplift the strong bed adhesion and excellent printing quality.

The Sovol SV04 IDEX 3D printer is upgraded with a 32-bit TMC2209 silent board with 7 additional drivers, which makes no sound while chewing up the filament, offering a more stable and noiseless printing.

Its flexible and grainy metallic print bed reduces the need of using scrapers. Simply give a quick flex to detach the prints from the print bed.

The Sovol SV04 IDEX 3D printer offers a large 300 x 300 x 400 mm volume above the print bed with a 4.3 inch LED screen that makes it more responsive and easy to control.

The Sovol SV04 IDEX comes with filament detection and resume printing capabilities which makes you worry less about the long prints anymore.

Print quality is impressive but when I tried multi-color prints, I noticed layer shifts and a slight drop in quality but all this was fixed after a firmware update. The print bed is large and heats up quickly and evenly. With the auto-bed leveling, calibration is a breeze and the resume print and filament run-out detection features make the entire printing process less tedious but it’s still a bit noisy.

I admire this printer because of its good specs and hardware configuration, which can work well if you update the firmware to the latest available version. Once you properly calibrate the offsets and make minor tweaks to the profile, the printer can produce beautiful prints without investing too much time. The printer comes with two different colored filament samples and the necessary tools for assembly. However, the two filament rolls are only enough for a few test prints, so it is advisable to order more filament when you buy the printer, so you don’t run out immediately. The printer’s 4.3-inch touchscreen gives quick access to all the essential options, and the controls are large enough to be selected with a finger. Due to the automatic print bed leveling, the printer remembers the inclination of the print bed and compensates it automatically during printing. The printer has a resume printing feature through which it remembers where it was interrupted by an unforeseen power failure; after the power is restored, the printer starts printing precisely where it was interrupted and is compatible with many slicers. This 3D printer is suitable for beginners, is easy to assemble, and has an intuitive screen interface. It is a printer that I would recommend without hesitation.
