These spools are not compatible with XYZ printers, as they require proprietary cartridges. However, they can be used with other 1.75mm printers that do not have proprietary cartridges, as long as the machine is modified accordingly.

If the filament is printed thinly, it is not very opaque and would allow light to pass through. If you create a thin section in the wall of an object, such as a box to hold an Arduino, around 1-2mm thick in the area where the LED is located, you will be able to see the light glow. However, it is uncertain how well this would work in a well-lit room.
